00 Huffman Creek Road, Robbinsville, NC 28771

Property Description

Rare opportunity to own 113.5 acres bordering the Snowbird Wilderness Study Area along Huffman Creek in Western North Carolina. This secluded property offers true wilderness, abundant wildlife, native trout water, and a remarkable Appalachian setting. A 1,600 sq. ft. off-grid cabin is already in place and ready for renovation, providing the foundation for a private retreat, hunting and fishing camp, or fully off-grid homestead. The property lies within one of North America's most biologically diverse temperate forest ecosystems. The surrounding watershed was logged in the early 1930s, but much of the rugged terrain remained untouched. Mature hemlock, tulip poplar, oak, black cherry, basswood, buckeye, hickory, and birch fill the forest, with rare remnant American chestnuts found in the upper drainage. Rhododendron and mountain laurel line the creek corridors, while seasonal wildflowers cover the forest floor. Cold, clean Huffman Creek provides excellent native trout habitat, including Southern Appalachian brook trout, with wild rainbow and brown trout found downstream. Wildlife includes black bear, deer, bobcat, wild turkey, and abundant Appalachian birdlife. The region is also renowned for salamander and amphibian diversity. The landscape has a rich history, including early timber railroads and Western North Carolina's first hydroelectric plant. The adjacent Wilderness Study Area protects more than 8,000 roadless acres, preserving one of the region's rare remaining wilderness landscapes. Significant acreage, wilderness-bordering creek frontage, diverse habitat, historic character, and an existing off-grid cabin make this a truly unusual opportunity in Graham County. Access is rugged and requires a side-by-side or aggressive 4x4.
